How to
Make a Garland Advent Calendar Craft
| Step 1 |
Make a chain
garland using Christmas colored
paper strips (about 6 inches long and 1 inch wide) or using pipe
cleaners. Make this long enough to hold 24 stockings with spaces in
between so they hang okay.
We use a pipe cleaner chain making small chains (half a pipe cleaner
per loop).
|
| Step 2 |
Find a spot in
the classroom or house to hang the chain. This can be around the
Christmas tree or on a wall.
Tip: If you hang it on the tree make sure the kids can reach around to
place the stockings on for each day in December.
If haning it on a wall, make it low so the kids can reach it or be
ready to help lift them up to hang the stockings.
|
| Step 3 |
Each day in
December starting on the 1st, cut
out a stocking shape from felt. Decorate the stocking and glue on a
looped ribbon on the back.
Make sure to include the number of the day when decorating the stocking.
|
| Step 4 |
Hang the
stocking on the garland for each day in December for this advent calendar craft idea.
Tip:
You can make a new stocking each day as a classroom activity or family
project. As an alternative you can make all 24 stockings before the 1st
of December. Then place them in a box near the garland and have the
kids hang the new one each day.
|
Get creative when decorating your stockings. You can even make
stuffed stockings by sewing together two stockings. Then fill it with
tissue paper to give it a puffed up look.
Use different Christmas
colors and designs to make your finished stocking garland advent
calendar craft a beautiful Christmas decoration. |
