How to
Make a Coffee Filter Bat Crafts
| Step 1 |
Using the
acrylic paint, paint your clothes pin either black or purple
(or the color scheme of your choice). Set aside and let it dry.
Tip: You may want to give this a second coat once it is dry. |
| Step 2 |
Lay out a piece
of wax paper on you work table. Be sure it is slightly bigger than your
coffee filter. |
| Step 3 |
Cut the coffee
filter in half. Lay both halves on the wax paper.
|
| Step 4 |
Using your water
colors, paint one half filter black and the other
purple. Or you can use red and black, blue and black or even purple and
red. The color choice is up to you. |
| Step 5 |
Let the filters
dry completely. Take both halves of the coffee filter and place one on
top of the
other. We placed the black on top but you can put the purple on
top. |
| Step 6 |
Pinch the coffee
filters on the straight edge
in the center. Open your clothespin and place a drop of glue and clamp
the gathered section of the coffee filters in the clothespin.
|
| Step 7 |
Make the coffee
filters look like bat wings by cutting out half moon shapes coming to a
pointed end.
|
| Step 8 |
Glue two small
wiggle eyes to the front of the
clothespin. Optional: Cut two small fangs using white or red
paper and glue these to the front of the clothespin underneath the
front of the clothespin. |
Be creative and try different colors. You can even blend a couple of
colors together on one coffee filter instead of cutting it in half. We
used food coloring on one of our bats and water colors on the other.
Both turned out very colorful and scary for Halloween.
