How to Make a
Paper Plate Butterfly Mobile

Decorate
your Paper Plate. You can add some flowers, summer colors,
draw on some butterfies or anything you want.

Cut
out several butterflies with different colored paper.
Decorate your butterfies. You can make these
different sizes, colors and decorations.

Using the hole punch, create several holes
around the rim of your plate. You can also use a pencil to poke holes
in the middle section of the plate for even more butterflies.
Create one hole for each butterfly you will hang.

Thread yarn through two holes on
the opposite sides of the plate and tie it off
creating a loop for hanging.
Tip:
If the mobile is off centered, you can tape a penny on top of
the
plate to help balance or thread another piece of string through two
holes directly on the other side of the first thread. Tie all
four ends off for hanging.

Punch a hole through each butterfly.
Tie yarn on the end of each butterfly and thread through a
hole on the plate and tie these off.
|
Hang this butterfly mobile where you can show it off to everyone.
It will feel like summer in whatever room these cute
butterfies are at.

You can set this little guy on a table or by your potted flowers.
Supplies

Toilet Paper Cardboard Roll
2 Pipe Cleaners
Construction Paper
Crayons, Markers or Paint
Scissors
Glue or Tape
Wiggle Eyes
How to Make a
Paper Plate Butterfly Mobile

Cover
the cardboard tube with colored construction paper.

Cut
a circle slightly larger than the opening of the cardboard tube.
Glue this to one of the openings of the tube for the
butterflies face. Glue on wiggle eyes and draw on a mouth.

Cut out 2 wings using colored construction
paper. Decorate the wings and let these dry.

Cut a pipe cleaner in half and twist to
create the antennae. Attach these to the body by poking a
hole and placing one end of the pipe cleaner in the hole. Or
you can simply tape these in place.
Tip: You can place a small dab of hot glue to help hold in
place.

Cut the last pipe cleaner into 4 equal
parts. Curl one end of the pieces to create feet.
Attach the legs to the body the same way you attached the
antenneas.

Now tape your wings on each side of the
body.
|
This little guy will look like he is ready to take off and fly.

Paper
Plate Butterfly Mask
With this fun kids craft idea, your kids can pretend they are a
butterfly. Each mask can be decorated with their favorite
colors and designs.
Supplies
1
Sturdy Paper Plate
Markers/Paints and Glitter Glue
Popsicle Stick
2 Pipe Cleaners
Scissors
Glue
How to Make a
Paper Plate Butterfly Mask

Cut
the paper plate into the shape of butterfly wings.

Place
the mask up to the child's face and using a pencil, mark where their
eyes are. Cut out two holes large enough for your child to
see out of the mask.

Decorate the butterfly mask and let it dry.
|
 |
Glue on a popsicle stick on the backside of
the mask. This is what you will hold onto to put the mask up
to your face.
Another option is to punch two holes at the top of the wings about half
way from the middle. Then place string, yarn or rubber bands
through the holes and tie together. When tying these on,
place the mask on the child's face and make sure it is tight enough to
stay on but not too tight.

This make fun party masks as well. You can create all kinds
of different animal masks and then have a mascarade party.

Butterfly Sun Catcher
This interesting looking butterfly will catch lots of sun this summer.
Supplies
Black
Construction Paper
Colored Tissue Paper
Markers, Paint or Glitter Glue
Pipe Cleaner
Tape
Scissors
How to Make a
Butterfly Sun Catcher

Cut
the black construction
paper into a butterfly shape. Now poke a hole in the middle
of
each wing section and cut out an outline of each wing (leaving about a
1" outline for each wing - see picture above).

Cut
out squares of tissue paper (enough to fill in the wing sections).
|
 |
Tape the tissue paper to the back of the
butterfly to fill in the wings.
Tip: Trim any excess tissue paper. You can double
up the tissue paper to make it a bit stronger).

Decorate the outline of the wings with
glitter glue, paint or markers.
|
 |
Cut a pipe cleaner in half and curl for the
anteannes. Tape these to the back.
|
