Craft Stick Christmas
Ornaments Kids Craft

|
This Christmas ornament kids crafts will take some patience waiting for
the glue to dry. If you have wood glue this works best but
Elmer's glue will do the job.
Anything you can shape by
gluing together popsicle sticks (craft sticks) you can make
into a Christmas ornament, so use your imagination and come up with
your own ornament kids craft ideas.
Supplies
5 Craft Sticks
Green Paint
Paint Brush
Wood Glue (or Elmer's glue)
Pony Beads or Glitter
Colored Ribbon
Pipe Cleaner (optional) Heavy Duty Scissors
There
are two Christmas ornament kids craft stick ideas pictured here.
The instructions
below are for the Christmas tree.
To make the Christmas star ornament, simply shape the sticks
into a star and glue together. Then decorate as you wish.
There is no cutting needed for the star.
You
can even try to make a sleigh, a reindeer, a square snowman or many
different Christmas ornaments using craft sticks, some decorative items
and glue. So give it a try to see whay you come up with.
|
How
to make Craft stick Christmas tree ornament
 |
Take
one craft stick and place it on the table vertically. The
other sticks will be glued to this one but placed horizontally.
Keep one craft stick the full lengther. With the remaining
two craft sticks, cut about 1 1/2 inch off of one of them (keep both
pieces as you will use the smallest for the top of the tree).
Now cut the other stick about 2 1/4 inches off.
Again keep both pieces. Color these sticks green.
|
 |
Now
place the cut sticks on top of the first stick you placed vertically on
the table. Glue the largest piece towards the bottom of the
stick (leave some room at the bottom for the tree trunk). Now
glue remaining pieces leaving some piece inbetween each going from
larger to smaller to where the smallest is towards the top of the tree.
|
 |
Make
sure the glue is completely dry before you try to decorate your tree.
Once the glue is dry, you can glue beads on the sticks to look like
ornaments.
Now glue on some colored ribbon to make some garland on your tree.
|
 |
Now
it's time to top the tree with a Christmas star. I used a
pipe cleaner and simply folded it into the shape of a star.
However you can simply use construction paper and glue it to
the top of the tree.
|
 |
The
last step is to glue on some string or ribbon for hanging the tree on
your tree. Simply loop the string and glue the two ends to
the back of the stick. You may want to tie the string in a
knot before you glue it to ensure it stays on for haning.
|
There you have it. Your first Christmas ornament kids craft
stick tree. If you want to try and make some more ornaments
with craft sticks, check these out. You need the
same
supplies as listed about. For the star you can use beads or
glitter glue to decorate it.

Beaded
Christmas Ornaments Kids Crafts
I love these Christmas pipe cleaner bead ornaments kids craft ideas.
These Christmas ornaments kids crafts are great
for all ages as the little ones simply string on the bead colors of
choice and moms and dads can shape them into whatever they want like
candy canes, snowflakes, stars and more.
Supplies
2 Pipe Cleaners (Christmas colors)
Pony Beads
Scissors
How to make a
snowflake pipe cleaner bead ornament
 |
Take
two pipe cleaners and cut each in half. Be careful if the
scissors are not that sharp it can leave the pipe cleaners a bit pokey
at the end. Moms and Dads, simply feel the edges and bend
back a little if needed before the kids start beading the pipe cleaners.
|
 |
Now
twist two cut pipe cleaners together forming a cross. Take
the other two cut pieces and twist to the other two pieces (in the
middle) forming the other points of the snowflake.
|
 |
Now
bead your snowflake with the colors you want. You can bead
the
full length of the pipe cleaner (but leave some room to bend back
the so beads don't fall off). If you want, you can
bead
only a portion to give your snowflake a different look.
Tip:
If you are only beading part way, then you can simply hook
together the ends of the pipe cleaners to create a closed snowflake.
You will need one small piece of pipe cleaner to finish off
closing it up (see picture above).
|
 |
To
hang this from your tree, simply tie a string around the center of the
star making the string long enough to hang. If you closed
your
snowflake with the pipe cleaners, then you can tie the string just
about anywhere for hanging.
|
 |
To
make a candy cane pipe cleaner bead ornament, simply tie off or bend
one end of the pipe cleaner. Now bead the pipe cleaner with
alternating colors to make it look like a candy cane. Leave
enough
room to tie off at the top as well. Then simply bend and
curve your
pipe cleaner into the shape of the cane. This can easily hang
on your
tree without the need of a string.
|
 |
You
can also make Christmas ball ornaments as well. Using a pipe
cleaner (or half for smaller sizes), bead the pipe cleaner and then
simply twist both ends together and shape into a circle.
If you want to get fancy with your ball ornament, use two pipe cleaners
and bead both. Then twist both pipe cleaners together with
one circle inside the other. Then shape each circle to make a
3D look.
|
The
possibilities and craft ideas for Christmas ornaments are endless
with just some pipe cleaners and beads. Let your imagination
go wild and see what else you can think of or check out these other Christmas
beaded ornament ideas.

Snowman Garland
Christmas Ornaments Kids Craft
Garland around the Christmas tree or hanging from the walls makes
everything look more festive. This Christmas kids craft is
not exactly an ornament but can go around your Christmas tree to a
touch of "snow".
Supplies
White
Paper or White Craft Foam
Orange Marker
Black Marker
Colored Markers
Gold or Brown ribbon
Scissors
Glue
2 round objects for tracing
How to make a
snowman garland Christmas ornament kids craft
 |
Find
two round objects to use for tracing, making one smaller than the
other. I used a shot glass and used the smaller top end for
the snowman's head and the larger bottom end for the body.
|
 |
Trace
the two circles on your white paper, one on top of the other.
Now draw a "tab" on top of the snowman's head. This
tab is what you will use to fold over the ribbon and glue to keep the
snowman on the ribbon. Depending on the size of your snowman
your tab should be just a bit smaller than his head.
|
 |
Cut
out your snowmen remembering to keep the tab as part of your cutting.
|
 |
Now
decorate your snowmen by giving him eyes, a nose, a mouth, buttons and
a scarf. Using the black marker, make two "beady" eyes and
several black dots for his mouth (like black coal).
Using the orange marker, give him a carrot like nose. Lastly
draw on some buttons and as an option you can give your snowman a
colorful scarf.
|
 |
Next
you need to give your snowman some stick arms. For this cut
small pieces of the gold or brown ribbon and glue to the body of the
snowman.
|
 |
The
last step is to glue the snowmen to a long piece of ribbon.
Your ribbon should be long enough to hold all the snowmen you
made. Make sure the glue for the arms are dry before you try
to attach them to the ribbon.
Simply fold over each tab over the ribbon and glue the tab together.
Now you have garland to put on your tree.
|
Try adding a bit a variety to each snowman. Give some a top
hat by
using a portion of the tab or even color some up to look like Santa
instead of a snowman. You can even draw out ginger bread men
and add
these to your garland. The craft ideas are endless
to this
garland decoration and Christmas ornaments kids crafts. So go
crazy and make several ornaments and garland for your tree.

Paper Plate Spiral
Christmas Ornaments Kids Craft
This
Christmas ornaments kids craft is so easy and adds such a unique beauty
to your tree. You don't have to use a paper plate, any thick
paper will do. However, the heavier the paper the longer this
ornament will last. You can even use craft foam to ensure you
have these ornaments year after year for your tree.
Supplies
Snack sized paper plate
Scissors
Crayons or markers
Hole Punch
String or ribbon
How to make a
paper plate spiral ornament
 |
Cut
out the inner circle of
the paper plate and color it. You can make it all one color
and a
combination of colors to make your spiral ornament multi colored.
|
 |
Now
you will cut the plate in
a spiral. Starting at the outside of the plate, cut along the
edge and keep moving inwards until you reach the center of the plate.
Leave enough of the center of the plate to punch a hole.
this is how you will hang the ornament.
|
 |
For
a longer more springy spiral, make the cuts thinner and for a shorter
more compressed ornament, make the cuts wider.
|
 |
Punch
a hole at the center of the paper plate once it is cut.
Simply tie a ribbon or string through the hole.
|
This is such a simple Christmas ornament kids craft but you
have to like cutting. If the kids can't handle the tight
curves
for cutting have them do the coloring and let an adult take over from
there. Although this Christmas ornaments kids craft is simple
it
adds
such a nice touch to the Christmas tree.
