How to Make a Baby Chick Pin
Cushion
Fill
the clean baby food jar with yellow buttons or pom poms.
Cut
a piece of yellow cloth about three times larger than the lid.
With the hot glue, overlap the yellow cloth slightly over the
lid and glue on in one spot.
Continue to glue the cloth to the lid.
As you do this, pinch and pleat the cloth. Cover
the lid only half way.
Stuff cotton balls between the lid and the
cloth to form the "cushion" for the pins. Finish gluing on
the cloth to the lid. Trim off excess.
With the red or orange craft foam cut out 2
small triangles for the beak. Glue these onto the front of the
jar with one slightly below the other.
Cut out wings with the yellow craft foam
and glue to the sides. Now finish the face by gluing on the
wiggle eyes.
Tip: If you don't have wiggle eyes you can use black and
white craft foam or construction paper and make your own eyes.
To complete this pin cushion, place several
red straight pins to form the "comb" on top of the baby chick's head.
| For even more Easter craft ideas, make this craft in different
Easter animals. Try making an Easter bunny, Easter mouse or
even
an
Easter duck. Just use the right colors and face cut outs and
you can make just about any animal pin cushion from a baby food jar.

Wax Paper
How to Make a Flower Yarn Sun
Catcher
Use
a flower shaped cookie cutter or cut out a flower shape with cardboard.
Place
a piece of wax paper on the table. Place your flower template
on top of the wax paper.
In a small bowl, pour in some liquid starch
(enough to soak the yarn).
Cut a long strip of yarn. You can
use several strips but it's best to use just one so you may want to
pre-fill your template to see how much you need.
Place the yarn in the bowl with the liquid
starch. Make sure the yarn is completely soaked.
Remove one end of the yarn and starting at
the outer edge of the template, begin to fill the flower with yarn.
Do this by wrapping the yarn around inside the template (from
outer edge to the inside).
Tip: Squeeze off excess liquid starch as you remove the yarn
from the bowl using your finger and thumb.
All the yarn to dry (at least 6 hours).
Remove the flower from the template and wax
paper. Add some petals to your flower using the craft foam.
Lastly glue on some green ribbon on the top
and bottom of the flower. Let the bottom hang down to make it look like
the stem. The top is for hanging in your window.
You can make several different flower shapes or several of the same
shape and hang them together to make a cascading sun catcher.
You can even make different Easter shapes by using Easter
shaped cookier cutters like a bunny or even an Easter egg. |

How to Make a Chick in Egg Craft
Blow
up an oval balloon and tie it off. Tie a string to the end of
the balloon.
Mix
2 parts flour with 1 part water for the paper mache paste.
Tear several strips of white printer paper.
Dip the paper in the paste and place on the
balloon. Squeeze off excess paste before placing it on the
balloon. Let this first layer completely dry.
Repeat with another layer of white paper
and let dry. Now tear up several pieces of colored tissue
paper (in your choice of colors). Dip these into the paste
and place on the balloon. Let dry and repeat 2 or 3 more
times until your egg is strong enough.
Once the paper mache egg is completely dry,
have an adult cut it in half using a craft knife or exacto knife.
Cut in a zig zag to create the "broken" egg look.
Take your yellow plastic Easter egg and
glue on a beak (cut from the orange paper). Glue on the
wiggle eyes.
Glue the bottom of the chick egg to the
bottom of the broken egg paper mache.
Now place the top half of the broken egg on
the bottom half in a way that will leave a big opening so you can see
the chick.
Tip: To do this, place 2 or three tips of the zig zag
together at the back and then hot glue in place.
To display this cute chick in his broken egg, decorate a canning lid to
set it in. Or you can use an empty ribbon spool to set the egg in.

Cut
a piece of cloth slightly larger than the bowl. Soak the
cloth in liquid starch and place on top of the bowl. Repeat
with another piece of cloth.
Allow to dry for about 6 to 8 hours.
Once the cloth is dry remove from the bowl. Tie a
piece of ribbon at the bottom to help hold the nest shape.
Fill the nest part way with your natural
items.
Tip: You can also just use some Easter grass to fill the nest.
Take your plastic yellow eggs and use one
half to make each bird. To make the birds cut out some beaks
with red or orange construction paper and glue or tape it on the egg.
Tip: We used double stick tape as this worked the best.
Elmer's glue takes a while to dry. Hot glue will
also work but for the little ones we wanted to just use tape.
Cut out some wings with yellow construction
paper and tape to the sides.
Place your birds in their nest.
These little birds in their nest will make a cute Easter
decoration.
