Egg Carton Bats #1
Supplies
2 Egg carton sections (per bat)
Black paper
Black paint (optional)
Wiggle eyes
Glue
Scissors
Marker
Colored Paper (optional)
How to
Make Egg Carton Bats
| Step 1 |
Cut out two
sections of an egg carton. Separate the sections and trim each section
rounding them into smaller cup shapes. You can use the styrofoam or
cardboard egg cartons. Either one works however the cardboard is easier
to paint and has a rougher look for the bats.
Optional: Paint each egg carton section black and let it dry. You can
just leave them the color of the egg carton as well. |
| Step 2 |
Put these
together to see how they fit (but don't glue these yet). Trim more
off if necessary.
The two cups together will form the bats body (front and back). |
| Step 3 |
Using the black
paper, cut out two identical wings for each side of the bat. Cut out
two ears. Glue the wings and ears to the inside rim of one of the egg
carton cups. You may have to hold this in place for awhile until the
glue starts to dry.
Tip: You can also use hot glue. |
| Step 4 |
Once the wings
and ears are glued on, glue both cups together. |
| Step 5 |
Glue on some
wiggles eyes. As an option you can add fangs, a bow tie or even a
ribbon for a girl bat. |
| Step 6 |
Optional: If you
want to use these as a place holder simply cut a rectangle using a
colored piece of card stock. Write the person's name on the card. You
can either place your bat on the card or glue it in place. |
If you don't want to use these as place holders then glue on some
string and hang these egg carton bats around the house for some great
Halloween decorations.
