Elephant
Paper Bag Puppet for Kids
This
elephant paper bag puppet is so cute and fun for kids to play with.
Animal puppets are one of the favorite choices for many kids using just
a simple paper bag. You can color your bag to match your animal or buy
a bag in the color you want. Although we made our elephant craft a
pretty pink you can pick a
traditional gray or a fun color of your choice. This kids
craft
idea is easy, quick to make and inexpensive. You can even try making
more zoo animals and create a zoo puppet show for your friends or
family.

How to
Make an Elephant Paper Bag Puppet
| Step 1 |
Place one pink
bag on the table with the flap side up. The flap will be the elephant's
mouth. |
| Step 2 |
Draw an
Elephant's head using pink paper. Next draw out two elephant legs and
arms. Now draw out the elephant ears using darker pink paper. Draw out
smaller elephant ears using the same pink paper as the head. You can
use this paper bag template here for the elephant's body pieces. |
| Step 3 |
Now glue on all
the elephant's head pieces to the paper bag. Glue the head to the flap.
Glue the two ear pieces together (bigger pink on bottom and the smaller
pink on top). Glue the completed ear to the side of the elephant's
head.
|
| Step 4 |
Glue each of the
arms on the side of the bag. Open the bag slightly and glue to the
inside front part of the bag inside the fold. Glue on both legs to the
inside front of the bag. |
| Step 5 |
Complete your
elephant's face by gluing on wiggle eyes (or you can just draw the eyes
on the head). Take the second pink bag and place a pipe cleaner on one
edge of the bag. Now fold the paper bag about 1/2" over and over to
form the trunk. Bend the bag to shape the trunk and glue it to the head
to make the trunk. |
| Step 6 |
Accessorize your
elephant paper bag puppet. We created a cute purple bonnet and cut out
a flower to glue to the top of the bonnet. Then we glued the hat on the
elephant's head. Next we drew on the finger nails using a purple marker
and then filled in the nails with pretty purple glitter glue for finger
nail polish. |
| Step 7 |
Let the glue dry
on your puppet and then simply slip your hand through the bag and place
your fingers in the flap. To move your puppet, simply move your fingers.
|
You can have hours of fun pretending to be an elephant with your paper
bag puppet crafts for kids. As you move the flap back and forth, just
make a big elephant sound and stomp your feet like in a stampede.
