Halloween Recipes for Kids

These fun and frightful Halloween recipes are great for kids to make and eat at their holiday party. With some simple ingredients found at the local grocery store, some help from an adult and some ghoulish imagination, these foods can be the highlight of any Halloween party, even for us adults.

Gum Drop Eye Balls

These no-bake gooey eye balls are a sweet surprise to your Halloween fare. With just a bit of melting time in the microwave (supervised by an adult) the kids can make these all by themselves.

Ingredients

buttonGum Drops
buttonWhite Chocolate Baking Chips
buttonDark Chocolate Chips
buttonRed Icing Gel

Other Items Needed

buttonToothpicks
buttonWax Paper
buttonStyrofoam Ball or Square

Directions



Step 1 Place a toothpick through each gum drop at the bottom. Set these on the wax paper.

Step 2 In a microwave safe dish, melt the white chocolate chips. Stir to ensure these are melted.

Step 3 Take a gum ball holding onto the toothpick and completely cover with the melted white chips.

Step 4 Press a chocolate chip in the center to make the pupil.

Step 5 Place these in the Styrofoam ball to hold upright while the white chocolate cools and hardens.

Step 6 Once the chocolate is cooled and hardened, use the red frosting gel and make some veins for your gooey eye balls.

You can use marshmallows, donut holes or even small scoops of ice cream. This last one of course needs to be frozen before and after to keep them from melting.

Kids Halloween Recipes #2

Green Monster Toes

These monster toes will have all your guests squealing with delight at these tasty toes.

Ingredients

button1 12 ounce package white chocolate baking chips
buttonGreen food coloring
button22 peanut butter filled oblong sandwich cookies
button11 miniature Tootsie rolls, cut in half lengthwise


Directions

Step 1 Using a microwave safe bowl, place the white chips in and heat until melted. Use 30 second intervals, stirring in between.

Step 2 Add green food coloring until the desired color is achieved.

Step 3 Holding the cookie at both ends, dip into the melted candy and completely coat the top.

Step 4 Place the cookie on wax paper. Press ½ a Tootsie roll onto the top of each cookie to form a toe nail.

Step 5 Let stand until the coating is hardened.

Makes approximately 22 cookies.

Pumpkin Cookie Pops

It wouldn't be Halloween without some pumpkins and these sweet pumpkin treats are perfect to add to your holiday treats.

Ingredients

buttonVanilla Wafers
buttonWhite Chocolate baking chips
buttonSemi-sweet chocolate chips
buttonWhite frosting
buttonOrange food coloring
button1 T Solid Shortening

Directions

Step 1 Frost each cookie on the flat side of the wafer.

Step 2 Press a Popsicle stick on the frosting and cover the vanilla wafer with another vanilla wafer forming a cream filled cookie. Careful not to press too hard and break your cookie. Just press enough to hold the stick in place. You can color your frosting orange if you want or leave it white.

Step 3 Melt the white chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe dish. Use 30 second intervals until the candy is completely melted.

Step 4 Drop in several drops of orange food coloring and stir. Add more until you get the desired color.

Step 5 Take each cookie sandwich and dip it into the melted chocolate completely covering both sides.

Step 6 Set these on the wax paper. While the white chocolate is still warm and soft, press chocolate chips in to form the eyes, nose and mouth for your pumpkin. Set these in the freezer and remove about 30 minutes before serving.

Kids Halloween Recipe #4

Gooey "Brain" Pasta Salad

This one looks green and gushy like the insides of brains. Eat with caution as this “brain” food is bound to make this Halloween even creepier.

Ingredients

buttonSpaghetti Noodles
buttonGreen Food Coloring
buttonBlack and Green Olives
buttonMozzarella and Cheddar Cheese (chunks)
buttonCucumbers
buttonTomatoes
buttonItalian Dressing

Directions

Step 1 Cook the noodles in hot water until done to desired tenderness.

Step 2 Drain most of the water (leaving just a little). Add several drops of green food coloring and stir until you have the desired color. Drain remaining water.

Step 3 Cut up the tomatoes and cucumbers. Cut the cheese into chunks.

Step 4 Add all ingredients to the green pasta and stir. Add italian dressing to desired flavor.

Step 5 Mix ingredients together and form pasta (as best as you can) into spirals around the bowl to resemble brains.

Leave the spaghetti noodles long to create a spiral brain tissue look in your pasta dish.

Kids Halloween Recipe #5

Creepy, Crawly Spider Punch

This one is sure to have your guests sreaming with fright at all the creepy, crawling spiders.

Ingredients

button12 - 24 gummy spiders
button1 vinyl glove
button1 gallon green fruit punch, chilled
button1 (2 liter) bottle ginerale or lemon lime soda
button1 quart lime sherbert

Directions

Step 1 Fill an ice cube tray 2/3 full of water. Add a gummy spider to each section and freeze.

Step 2 Sterilize the vinyl glove in hot water. Fill the vinyl glove with water and tie the end closed. Freeze the glove until solid. This will look like a spider web in the bottom of the punch bowl.

Step 3 Pour the fruit punch into a 7 qt. punch bowl. Stir in the ginger ale until well combined.

Step 4 Add all ingredients to the green pasta and stir. Add italian dressing to desired flavor. Add the lime sherbert.

Step 5 Place the frozen spider cubes into the punch. Lay the frozen hand in the middle.

To really make this punch even scarier, place several plastic spiders all around the punch bowl and spred out some spider webbing around the outside of the bowl.
