Hand
and Foot Turkey Craft
This
hand and foot turkey craft takes the traditional handprint turkey a
step further. By adding a cutout of two feet for the body this guy
looks great when it's done. The kids will have a blast tracing their
hands for this Thanksgiving craft idea. But don't let the kids have all
the fun. Parents can jump in on the fun and make this a family turkey
craft project.
Each person can write a special message of what they are
thankful for on the back of their handprints. Then have the whole
family write their names on the back of the turkey's body (the
footprints) and date it.
So all hands (and feet) on deck and let's start crafting. |

How to
Make a Hand and Foot Turkey
| Step 1 |
Using the brown
paper, trace someone's foot. Be sure to wear shoes as you don't want
the toes of the foot. Cut out two feet with the tracing.
|
| Step 2 |
With the
smallest width of the foot facing the top, place the two feet cut outs
together. Now spread the bottom half of the cut outs slightly to form
the body. Glue together at the top (the head) and where it over laps at
the bottom (body). |
| Step 3 |
Using the fall
colored paper, trace each family members hand and cut out. Use
different colors for each hand. If you need more "feathers" then just
cut out more handprints.
|
| Step 4 |
Arrange the
handprints to make the turkey's feathers. Put the larger ones in back
and smaller ones in front. Alternate the colors to make a beautiful
display of feathers.
Glue your arrangement together.
|
| Step 5 |
Glue your
handprint feather grouping to the back of the turkey so that they will
fan out above and around the turkey's head and body. |
| Step 6 |
Cut out two arms
and two feet using the brown paper. Glue the arms to the sides of the
turkey and the feet to the bottom of the turkey. |
| Step 7 |
Glue on two
wiggle eyes on the turkey's head. Using a yellow clip, glue
this below the eyes for the turkey's beak. If you don't have
a clip cut out a beak with yellow paper. Glue the top of the
clip only as you will slide the wattle underneath.
|
| Step 8 |
Cut out a red
wiggly wattle (that funny looking red thing under the turkey's nose).
Glue this under the yellow clip beak.
|
| Step 9 |
Optional:
As a finishing touch to your adorable Thanksgiving turkey craft, add
some real feathers on one side of the turkey's head. Then create a
small yellow bow tie using yarn and glue this at the neck of the
turkey. |
Be sure to preserve this fun family hand and foot turkey craft project by putting everyone's
name on the back of the turkey on their handprint. Then date this and
put a Thanksgiving message on the back of the turkey's body. Hang this
fun Thanksgiving craft on a wall where everyone who visits can see it.
In addition to this
hand and foot turkey, try out these other fun hand turkey crafts
using paint and paper. These are just as much fun, very easy and will
make a great Thanksgiving decoration.
