How to
Make a Handprint Bat Craft
| Step 1 |
Lay out some wax
paper or newspaper in your work area. Make sure the kids are wearing
work clothes and not their good clothes as this one can get messy. |
| Step 2 |
Place a piece of
construction paper on top of the wax paper. Any color but black or red
works best. |
| Step 3 |
Have
your child make a fist with their right hand and paint the outside of
the side of their hand with red paint. Have them press this against the
paper just slightly right of the center.
Repeat this with their left hand and have them press their left hand
(the side) right next to the first one. This will form the
bats body.
Tip: You may have to fill in the body a bit with the red
paint. |
| Step 4 |
Have the kids
wash the paint off from their hands and dry their hands. This will give
the red paint a bit of time to dry. |
| Step 5 |
Turn
the paper upside down so that the bottom of the bat is at the top. This
will insure that when they place their handprint the fingers (for the
wing) will be facing the right direction. |
| Step 6 |
Paint their
right hand (fingers, thumb and palm) black. Have them place their right
hand on the left side of the upside down bat. The thumb should be the
furthest from the body of the bat.
|
| Step 7 |
Paint their left
hand and have them place it on the right side of the upside down bat.
Allow the paint to dry.
|
| Step 8 |
Fill in the bat
by giving him some ears, eyes and a mouth. You can even add some scary
fangs if you want. |
You can use all black for your bat or try using a deep purple and brown
colors. Be creative and glue on some wiggle eyes and a bow tie if you
want to accessorize.
