We call this handprint Christmas tree craft our Charlie Brown tree. For
those of you familiar with the Charlie Brown Christmas show you know
what I mean. This is a standing Xmas tree fill with handprints cut from
many different unusual and fun looking paper.
Of course you can make
this kids Christmas craft idea with green paper to have a more
traditional looking tree. Simply decorate it once it is all put
together or leave it undecorated for a beautiful evergreen tree.
Handprint crafts make such a wonderful idea because you not only get a
great Xmas decoration but you get to preserve your child's handprint in
the craft. Then several years later when you pull this out for the next
holiday season you can see just how much they have grown. |

How to
Make a Handprint Christmas Tree Craft
| Step 1 |
Cut your poster
board in half. You will only be using 1 half of the board so save the
other half for another craft.
|
| Step 2 |
Draw a half
circle on your poster board and cut it out. Form this into a cone shape
and glue or tape in place.
Tip: Make sure this stands up. You may have to trim off the bottom a
little to make it stand.
|
| Step 3 |
Using your red
design paper, trace and cut several different handprints. Use different
patterns to give this a fun and unique look.
|
| Step 4 |
Take a pencil
and wrap this around each finger to curl the fingers and thumb of your
handprint.
|
| Step 5 |
Starting at the
bottom, glue the handprints all around the cone.
|
| Step 6 |
Continue to glue
handprints all around the Christmas tree working up from the bottom to
the top.
|
| Step 7 |
Finish your tree
by cutting out a paper star and glue or tape this to the top of the
tree.
|
For this handprint Christmas tree you can use green paper and then
decorate it after or leave it green. We recommend using different
shades of green so you can see the different handprints better.
Here are even more handprint Christmas tree crafts. On this page there are 2 kids Christmas craft ideas. One uses
paint (which the kids love) and the other is handprint
cutouts.
