Haunted
House Craft for Halloween
This haunted house craft uses simple craft sticks, some paints and glue
and Halloween stickers to dress it up. This one does take a bit of time
as you have to wait for the glue to dry before moving onto to the next
step. The results are well worth the wait and this haunted house will
make a scary Halloween decoration for your house or classroom.

Supplies
8 Large craft sticks
7 Regular craft sticks
7 Small craft sticks
White glue or wood glue
Purple, brown and blue paint
White felt
Halloween ghost and pumpkin stickers
Plastic spiders
Black spider webbing
Wax paper
How to
Make a Haunted House Craft
| Step 1 |
Using 7 of the large craft sticks, glue them
side by side with glue to form the main part of the house. Press
together to seal the glue and place these on wax paper to dry.
Tip: The glue will seep a bit from the sides so placing it on wax paper
makes it easier to lift off of than using newspaper as glue comes of
easier on wax paper. |
| Step 2 |
Take the remaining large craft stick, one
regular sized craft stick and three small craft sticks to make the
attic. Glue these together with the largest at the bottom and the
smaller ones at the top. Set these aside to dry. |
| Step 3 |
Glue the
remaining small craft sticks together side by side to form the door to
the house. Set these aside to dry.
|
| Step 4 |
Once the glue is
dry, paint the house and attic with the purple paint. You can use any
color you want but we used purple to make it a bit darker and scarier
looking for this haunted house.
Paint your door with the blue paint or the color of your choice. Paint
the remaining regular sized craft sticks brown. These will form the
roof in a later step. |
| Step 5 |
Now start putting your haunted house craft together. Take the
attic portion and place it on top of the house section near the top.
Glue this in place and let it dry before moving onto the next step. |
| Step 6 |
Now take the 6
brown craft sticks and place one from the bottom of the attic to the
top creating an angle to form the peak of the roof. Glue this in place.
Repeat this with the next stick and do this on the other side of the
house. Then take another stick and place it on top of the first one but
in slightly to create a layered look to your roof. Keep repeating until
all 6 sticks are glued in place for the roof.
|
| Step 7 |
Now glue on the
door. Cut out a square from white felt and cut out the center to form a
window pane (with the middle portion cut out). Glue these onto the
house.
|
| Step 8 |
Add stickers
around the house placing ghosts in the attic and in the window. Place
some pumpkin stickers at the bottom to look as if they are sitting on
the ground. You can even glue on some plastic spiders or use spider
stickers. |
| Step 8 |
Now really spook
up your haunted house craft with some black spider webbing. Cut a
section of the webbing (you can find this just about any where during
the Halloween season) and stretch it around the house, roof and attic.
This should just stick to the house but if needed, tack it down behind
the house with some glue. |
This haunted house will have the ghosts coming for miles around trying
to move in. Just attach some string on the back (on both sides of the
house) and hang this one up on the wall. Or you can even glue a magnet
(make it a heavy duty one) and turn this into a fridge magnet to hold
your Halloween school papers.
In addition to this haunted
house craft, try some of these ghost crafts to hang beside
your new Halloween craft.
