about Native American Indians
Did you know that Teepees are just one of many different types of
houses the American Indians lived in?
Teepees were typically used by the plains indians as they were always
on the move as they followed the herd of buffalos. Other
houses included Wigwams, Longhouses, Grass Houses, Wattle and Daub
Houses, Chickees, Adobe houses, Earthen Houses, Plank Houses, Brush
Shelters and even Igloos.
Do
you know why Native Americans are called Indians?
When Columbus reached North America he thought he had actually landed
in East India, hence the name Indians. Today the terms Native
American, American Indian or First Nations (in Canada) is preferred
over just Indians.

you know which Native American tribe shared their meal with the
Pilgrims for the first Thanksgiving?
The Wampanoag tribe celebrated Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims and is
what we know today as the First Thanksgiving.
