Mothers Day Crafts Idea #1
Paper
Lilies
Lilies are perfect for Mothers Day craft, spring crafts and Easter
time.
Supplies
White or Yellow Construction Paper
Yellow Pipe Cleaners
Green Card Stock or Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
Flower Foam or Clay
Plastic Foam Cup
Colored Aluminum Foil
Pencil
Ribbon or Bow
How to Make Paper Lilies
 |
Cut
a circle using the white or yellow paper.
Tip: The bigger the circle the bigger your lily will be.
You can create several in different sizes.
|
 |
Cut
a slit in each circle up to the center. Glue the two cut ends
together to form a cone shape.
|
 |
Cut
six small points around the edge of each cone . Curl the
points by rolling them around a pencil.
|
 |
Poke a small hole at the bottom of the lily
(the pointed end).
Take your pipe cleaner and curl one end into a small spiral
ball.
Poke the other end through the hole to create the stem.
|
 |
Cut out two leaf shapes for each lily using
the green paper. You can use this template here.
Tip: If you cut your own without using the template, make
sure that the stem is wide enough to glue the pipe cleaner on.
|
 |
Glue the pipe cleaner between the two stem
cutouts leaving a
portion of the pipe cleaner sticking out the bottom. You will
use
this end to push into the floral foam or clay.
|
 |
Cover your foam cup with aluminum foil.
|
 |
Place the clay or floral foam in the bottom
and press your lilies in place.
|
 |
Decorate your cup vase with ribbon or a bow.
|
These lilies will look great sitting on the table.
Lilies are a great Easter decoration, Mother's
Day gift or
anytime of the year.

Glass Jar
Colored Paints

How to Make a Painted Vase
 |
Clean
your jar and remove any labels. The best way to do this is to
soak it in warm soapy water.
|
 |
Once
the jar is cleaned and dry, pick out the colors you want.
Place a few drops of 2 or 3 colors of paint into the jar.
|
 |
Place
the lid back on the jar and place it on it's side on a flat surface.
Tip: The floor works best for this so that it doesn't spin
off a table and fall.
|
 |
Spin the jar on the floor and let the paint
spread out and up to
the top of the jar. You may need to spin this a few times to
get
the paint spread out.
|
 |
Add additional colors if you want and
repeat the spinning process.
|
 |
Remove the lid and place the jar upside
down on some wax paper or a paper plate to catch the excess paint.
Tip:
This vase craft idea will take a few days to dry depening on
how
much paint you used. To speed up the drying, you can use a
hair
dryer.
|
 |
Once the paint is completely dry, add some
ribbon using the hot glue.
|
This vase will have it's own unique look and no two vases will ever
turn out the same. Since the paint spreads based on what
colors
are used and how it is spun, each vase becomes a one of a kind.
