How to Paper Looped Flowers

bullet Using colored card stock or construction paper, cut out a circle.  For the small flower, we used a 1 1/2" diameter for the smaller flower and 2 1/2" to 3" diameter for the larger flowers.

bullet Cut several strips of colored paper 1/2" wide and 2" long to 6" long. The longer strips will be used for the bigger flowers and the outside row (for the multi layered flower).

Tip:  For creating a multi layered look, cut each row of strips 1" to 1 1/2" longer than the first row of petals.

bullet Fold each strip (without creating a crease) to form a loop.  Glue in place.

Tip:  You may need to press together for a bit until the glue sticks.

bullet Glue each strip on the backside of the circle.  Cut and glue as many strips as you want to create the look you want.

Tip:  If doing a multi-rowed flower, glue the first row of strips on the edge of the circle.  The next row slightly closer to the middle and slightly off centered of the first row.

bullet Glue pipe cleaner or straw to create the stem for these colorful flowers.

You can make several of these looped paper flowers in a variety of colors. Depending on the length of the strips these make fairly large flowers so use a vase big enough to hold them all.  We decorated a coffee can to hold our flowers.

How to Make a Pinwheel Flower

bullet Place the strips together (alternating colors if you used multiple colors) and put a paper fastener through the middle.

bullet Cut a small hole in a straw and place the paper fastener through the hole and bend back the fastener to hold in place.

bullet Fan out the strips until they create a complete circle.
