How
to Make a Paper Plate Caterpillar
 |
Paint
the bottoms of 6 plates
with the light green paint. Paint the other plates with the
dark
green paint and let them dry.
|
 |
Glue
the plates together at
the rim forming 6 sections of the caterpillar's body. Be sure
to
glue light green to light green and dark green to dark green.
|
 |
Glue the sections together to form the body
of the caterpillar.
Tip:
If you want your paper plate caterpillar to look as if he is
crawling, just glue the plates in the middle section to stand up higher
than the plates on the end. This will create a hump as if he
is
crawling along.
|
 |
Cut
a section of pipe cleaner and form into a smile for his mouth and glue
it on the front of the first plate. Glue on the wiggle eyes
above
the mouth.
|
 |
Cut the remaining piece of the pipe cleaner
in half (the one you
used for the mouth) for the antennas. Glue a green pom pom
onto
each of these at one end and then glue behind the first plate.
Tip: You may need to use hot glue to hold the pom poms in
place
|
 |
Cut
the remaining pipe cleaners in half to form 12 legs. Bend the
end
of each to form a foot and then glue in between the plate sections on
both sides of the plate.
Tip: You may need to trim some of
the pipe cleaners if you created your caterpillar with a hump.
Just hold the pipe cleaner up to the caterpillar and cut
where it
can be easily slipped in between the two paper plate sections and then
glue in place.

Just set this cute little green guy on a table to show him off.

How
to Make a Paper Plate Lizard Puppet
 |
Paint
the bottom of the plate green. Paint the inside yellow and
let the paint dry.
|
 |
Fold
the paper plate in half with the green on the outside.
|
 |
Cut the cardboard roll in half and cover
each half with green paper.
Tip: You can glue the paper in place but it is easier to use
double stick tape.
|
 |
Cut out 2 circles the size of the roll with
white paper. Draw
on eyes with the black and yellow markers. Glue these to the
top
of the plate to make the eyes.
|
 |
Using the red paper, cut out a tongue and
glue to the inside of the plate.
|
 |
Lastly,
cut a strip of paper 2 1/2 to 3" wide and about 3/4 of the length of
the plate. Glue the two ends of this strip to the bottom of
the
plate leaving enough of a gap between the strip and plate to place your
thumb.
|
To work this paper plate puppet, simply place your thumb in the strip
and two fingers into the eyes and move his mouth.
