Halloween Paper Plate Pumpkin

This paper plate pumpkin craft has two sides. You can make each side a different pumpkin face or make them both the same and hang it so it will turn with the breeze.

This kids craft idea is great for the younger kids as they will love the painting and gluing that comes with this Halloween pumpkin. You can use larger plates for a bigger pumpkin or smaller plates for a smaller one.

Make several as this is a really inexpensive kids craft for Halloween. You can use smaller plates to make some baby pumpkin faces or even oblong shapes plates for a really different looking paper plate pumpkin.

Supplies

2 Paper plates
Orange paint
Black paper
Scissors
Glue
Green pipe cleaner
String or yarn

How to Make a Paper Plate Pumpkin

Step 1

Paint the outsides of both plates orange. Let these dry completely.

Step 2

Cut out 2 sets of the pumpkin's facial features using black paper. You can also use yellow paper to make it look like the pumpkin is lit up.

Step 3

Glue on the eyes, nose and mouth on both paper plates and let the glue dry.

Step 4

Cut a green pipe cleaner in half and fold over to create a small loop. Glue this to the inside of one of the plates to where the pipe cleaner is sticking out for the pumpkin's stem.

Step 5

Now position the other plate on top of the first plate where the rims are touching and the bottoms of the plates (the pumpkin's faces) are facing out. Make sure that both faces are positioned to the top (where the green pipe cleaner is). Glue the plates together.

Now all you have to do is hang up your pumpkin. We created the exact same face on both sides and used black paper on one side and yellow paper on the other side. Then we hung this with a swivel so that as the place turns it looks as if the pumpkin is lit up (on the yellow side) and turned off (on the black side).

This really looks fun as it turns around in the breeze. You can make several of these streamers so that you have some fun pumpkins hanging all around for your Halloween party.
