How to Make a Folded Paper Plate Turkey

Step 1 Fold one dinner plate in half.  Glue or staple closed.  Paint one side completely brown.  Set aside to dry.

Step 2 Take the second dinner sized paper plate and cut in half. Take one half of the plate and fold into a triangle for the head, overlapping in order to make it small enough.  Cut off excess paper plate and paint it brown.  Set aside to dry.

Step 3 Take the other half of the paper plate and fold into a triangle shape (a bit bigger than the head).  Cut off any excess and paint brown.  Set aside to dry. This is the turkey's arm.

Step 4 While the paint is drying, cut out several feathers (9 to 12).  Arrange these in the order you want and glue together.  Cut out some turkey legs and feet with yellow, tan or orange construction paper.  Cut out a triangle with yellow or orange construction paper for the turkey's beak.

Step 5 Cut out some turkey legs and feet with yellow, tan or orange construction paper.  Cut out a triangle with yellow or orange construction paper for the turkey's beak.

Step 6 Once the paint is dry it's time to glue your turkey together. Glue on the turkey's arm to the body of the turkey.  With a black marker, draw lines to represent the feathers on the arm.

Step 7 Take the turkey's head and glue on the beak.  Now make your wattle using the red pipe cleaner.  Cut and shape the pipe cleaner to form the wattle and then glue it on.

Tip: Press and hold the wattle until the glue starts to dry.

Step 8 Draw eyes or glue on wiggle eyes.  Glue the head to the turkey's body.

Tip: You can use staples to help hold the head in place.

Step 9 Glue your feathers on to the back end of the turkey's body. Lastly, glue on the turkey's feet.

Way to go, you just made a paper plate turkey!  Show it off to your parents, grandparents, friends and teachers.  Moms and Dads, if you want, write the name of your child on one of the feathers and the date on another feather.  This way you will always remember who made it and when.
