Shamrock
Crafts for Kids
Get
some luck of the Irish with these shamrock crafts for kids.
Don't
forget your green on St Patrick's day by making your own shamrock.
Of course shamrocks are not complete without a leprechaun or
two
running around. So be sure to try out some of the leprechaun
crafts as well.
You
can add fun rainbow designs to your shamrocks. Make them a
four
leaf clover (for good luck) or use a 3 leaf clover design.
Be
sure to have plenty of green paint, markers, crayons and paper on hand
for these kids craft ideas.

Shamrock Craft #1
Foil Art
This
one looks really neat when it's done. It does require
permanent
markers so have the kids wear old clothes just in case.
Supplies
Piece of cardboard
Foil
Yarn
Permanent Markers or Paint
Shamrock Template
Elmers glue
How to Make a Shamrock Foil
Painting
 |
Cover a piece of cardboard with foil.
Secure it in place by folding the edge over and taping it to
the back.
|
 |
Use
a shamrock template (you can use one of these here)
and place it on the
foil.
|
 |
Using
the elmer's glue, trace around the shamrock.
|
 |
Place
your yarn on the glue to form the outline of the shamrock.
|
 |
Now
make several other designs using the glue and yarn all around the
shamrock.
|
 |
Once
the glue is dry and the yarn is in place, use your markers to color
your painting. Use green for the shamrock and any other
colors
for the remaining painting.
|
|
|
The crinkles in the foil will give this shamrock painting a
special look. You can glue some string on the back for
hanging or
glue on a picture hanger.

Shamrock Craft #2
Lacing
Shamrock Project
Lacing
projects are a fun project for older kids. The younger ones
will
have a tougher time trying to thread the needle in and out of the small
holes. So adults may have to help if a younger child wants to
give this a try.
Supplies
Shamrock Template
Plastic Lacing Sheet
Yarn (green, red, blue and yellow)
Darning Needle
Scissors
How to Make a Laced Shamrock
 |
Cut out your shamrock
template and trace
the outline on your plastic lacing sheet.
|
 |
Using
green yarn, lace the outline of the shamrock for 3 to 4 rows.
|
 |
Now
trace a rainbow inside the shamrock (creating 3 different stripes to
the rainbow).
|
 |
Lace
the rainbow using the blue, red and yellow yarn (or your choice of
colors).
|
 |
Now
complete the shamrock with the green yarn.
|
 |
Cut
the excess lacing sheet so that you have a smaller square.
Simply hang this on the wall or in a window.
|
As an option, you can lace the entire plastic sheet with
more yarn so that the shamrock is framed in the middle of your lacing
project.
