These rectangle shape activities make learning fun.
Your kids can have a blast with these shapes games and activities
that are all about the rectangle. Although these kids activities focus
primarily on the
rectangle shape they will also introduce other shapes to help children
recognize the many shapes of their world. Other learning fun with these
activities include colors, numbers and counting.

Seek and Find Rectangles
Kids love playing hide and seek so use this to help them learn the
rectangle shape.
Setup for the
Seek and Find Rectangles Activity

Use everyday items with different shapes
(or just use rectangle shapes) and hide them throughout the room.

Ask
the kids to find all the hidden rectangle shaped items and place them
on a table.
Tip: If you use multiple shapes, have two tables; 1 for the
rectangles and 1 for all the other shapes they find.

Have
them count how many rectangle items they found.
|
If you do not have many items for the rectangle shape, you can always
cut some out of construction paper and hide these as well.
You can even do this activity as a game and who ever finds
the most rectangles wins.

Identify Rectangle Coloring Sheet
In
this activity, kids can color the train and identify all the rectangles
they see.
Setup for
Rectangle Coloring Activity

Print out this coloring
sheet. This is a PDF file that will open in a new
window.

 |
Have the kids identify all the rectangles
and color according to size.
|
 |
Have
the kids name all the other shapes they see.
|
 |
Have
them color the other shapes to complete their train.
|
When they are done, have them count how many rectangles they see.
Have them tell you which ones are the largest and which ones
are the smallest rectangles. Ask them to name all the colors.

Rectangle Maze
This activity allows the kids to pick out the rectangle shape from the
square shape and use
problem solving skills to get to the finish line.
Setup for the
Square Maze Activity

Print off the maze worksheet.

Have your child follow the rectangles from
start to finish. If they run into a square, they have reached
a road block and need to look for a different path.
|
 |
Have them color each square and rectangle
according to the directions.
|
This kids activity will help them learn the difference between a square
and a rectangles.
