Valentine
Cards Kids Craft #1
Pop-Up Heart Card
Pop up cards are so cute and add that little extra. And the
great thing is these are fairly easy to make.
Supplies
1 Sheet Red or Pink Card Stock
1/2 Sheet Red or Pink Card Stock
Heart Template (optional)
Scissors
Stick Glue
How to Make a Heart Pop-Up
Valentines Card
 |
Take
a full sheet of card stock (red or pink) and fold in half top to
bottom. Fold again in the opposite direction so you have four
equal parts.
|
 |
Unfold
and then refold along the long edges.
|
 |
Along the folded edge (in just one of the
sections), lightly trace a half a heart. If you don't have a
heart shaped cookie cutter, you can use this template
to help you trace the heart. This template has 3 different
sizes of hearts.
|
 |
Starting at the top of the heart along the
fold, cut along the trace stopping shortly after the curve of the heart
(see video).
|
 |
Now starting along the fold and at the
bottom of the heart, cut along the heart stopping about 1/2 inch from
the cut above. Now fold your heart back along the fold where
it is uncut.
|
 |
Repeat this step for two more cuts of the
heart, making each one smaller and bending each heart back along the
folded uncut edge.
Tip: To get a bit of a gap between each cut and to show
through the second colored card stock, simply trim each cut slightly.
|
 |
Now refold your card stock into quarters
ensuring the heart cutout is facing in when you fold. To get
a multi-colored look, simply slide 1/2 a sheet of different card stock
behind the heart cutout and tape or glue in place.
|
For this Valentine card kids craft, you can write whatever message you
want on the inside and outside of the card. This is a pretty
heart card and takes a bit more time than some of the others, so make
this one for those really extra special people in your life.

|
 |
Glue a small green piece of pipe cleaner to
