Valentine Gift Idea #1
Windsock
We made this kids craft idea for dad as an alternative to flowers or
hearts, but this Valentine gift idea can be used to give to just about anyone.
Supplies
Red Gift Bag
Red, white and pink streamers
Glue
String
Scissors
Glitter Glue or markers
Hole Punch
How to Make a Heart Mobile
 |
Cut
off the bottom of the gift bag. Decorate the gift bag with
the message or design you want.
|
 |
Cut
3 of each color streamers about 2 to 3 feet long (depending on how much
you want to hang from your windsock).
|
 |
Glue the streamers to the cut off edge of
the bag with three streamers on each of the two sides and bottom.
|
 |
Punch two holes into the bag for hanging.
The openings of the bag should be on either side when you
hang this so that the wind can blow the streamers.
|
 |
Thread some string through the holes and
tie it off for hanging.
Tip: You may want to reinforce the holes so that they do not
tear. Just use tape or purchase the little round paper hole reinforce
stickers that you can purchase at any office supply retail store.
|
Now hang your windsock where it can catch some wind. It's
best to hang these out of the weather like under an awning or covered
porch.

Valentine Gift Idea #2
Whirligig
Whirligigs are fun to watch as they spin around and sparkle in the
light. This particular whirligig is a great
Valentine's
kids craft idea or for a special birthday - or just for reminding those
you love how you feel.
Supplies
Paper Towel Cardboard Roll
Paint or Markers
String
Hole Punch
How
to make a Whirligig
 |
Paint
the inside of the cardboard roll with one color and let dry.
Tip:
You can wait to color this once you have cut the roll but it
is
easier to do the painting while the roll is still together.
You
may have some touch ups to do once you cut the paper towel cardboard
roll.
|
 |
Paint the outside of the roll with a
different color and let dry.
|
 |
Now
cut the paper towel cardboard from top to bottom along the seems to
create a spiral.
|
 |
Decorate
the outside of your whirligig with beads, glitter, or however you want
to decorate.
We
put I "heart" U on the outside so when this whirligig spins you see
this over and over again. This would be a perfect Valentine's
gift.
|
 |
At
the top of the whirligig punch a hole and thread some string through
the hole.
|
Hang your whirligig in the house or outside where the wind will
make it move. If you want it to spin even better you can buy
a
small swivel and hot glue to the top instead of the hole punch.

Valentine Gift Ideas #3
Paper
Placemats or Bookmarkers
This
kids craft idea makes a perfect gift for just about anyone.
The laced
heart is not only adorable but will make any drawer smell great.
Supplies
Colored Construction Paper or
Card Stock
Glue
Scissors
Ribbon
How to Make a Bookmarker
 |
For
the 3 tiered heart bookmarker, use 1/4 of the card stock sheet cut
along the long edge.
|
 |
Fold
in half and trace or cut out 3 hearts making sure not to cut all the
way to the fold so that the hearts are connected.
|
 |
Unfold and put a message on the hearts like
"I love books" or something along that line. Glue some ribbon
to the top and bottom to complete this bookmark.
|
 |
For the multi-colored heart bookmark
(pictured above), take 1/4 of the card stock of one color and fold in
half. Cut out several heart shapes cutting all the way out.
|
 |
Take 1/4 of the card stock (cut along the
long edge) and place this behind the sheet with the heart cutouts so
that the new color comes through. Simply glue together and
you have a bookmarker with lots of hearts for a Valentine gift.l
|
Another
gift idea using heart cutouts and two sheets of different colored
pieces of construction paper are placemats.
These placemats can simply be left as paper placemats to use for just
this Valentine's day or laminate them to use them over and over.
